Executive Director & Founder

I am a proud Kinston, NC native who cares deeply about my community and the people in it. I have been happily married to my wife, Dianne, since 1985. We have a daughter, Kristen, who teaches mathematics at Johnston Community College, and we cherish the memory of our son, Tate, who we lost to suicide in 2013.
In 2015, I founded Hope Restorations, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing employment, training, and housing support for adults recovering from addiction and incarceration. Our mission is to offer a fresh start for those seeking to rebuild their lives while also addressing housing insecurity by renovating deteriorating homes to meet modern safety and energy-efficiency standards.
Before starting Hope Restorations, I served as an F-14 aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Navy and later transitioned into managing privately owned manufacturing operations. I also owned and operated a franchised auto repair business in Greenville, NC, before deciding to return to school and enter ministry.
I hold two associate degrees from Lenoir Community College, a Bachelor’s in Occupational Education from Eastern New Mexico University, and I completed the Course of Study for Ordained Ministry at Duke Divinity School. Additionally, I am an ASE Certified Master Auto Technician, a Licensed NC General Contractor, and hold a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University.
From 2007 to 2017, I served as Pastor of Sharon United Methodist Church. Throughout my career, I have found my true calling in team building, leadership, and problem-solving. I am grateful for this unique opportunity to serve the community and look forward to Hope Restorations’ future.
